PowerPivot gallery is displayed on SharePoint sites after you remove PowerPivot for SharePoint in SharePoint Server 2013

Symptoms

Assume that you enable PowerPivot for SharePoint in Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013. After you remove PowerPivot for SharePoint from the SharePoint farm by using the SharePoint Configuration Wizard, the PowerPivot gallery is still displayed on SharePoint sites. However, when you try to access the gallery, you receive the following error message:
Could not load type 'Microsoft.AnalysisServices.SPAddin.ReportGallery.ReportGalleryView'

Cause

This is a known issue in SharePoint Server 2013.

Workaround

 To recover documents from the PowerPivot gallery, access the PowerPivot gallery by using Explorer View.
