SYMPTOMS

Windows 2000-based clients in a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based domain environment may have to wait a long time to display domains users when you are setting share permissions.
The fix that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article does help, but the performance is noticeably slow:

CAUSE

The Windows 2000 object picker unnecessarily enumerates computer accounts that are not valid security principles in a Windows NT 4.0-based domain.

RESOLUTION
