Symptoms

Assume that you have an Advanced Program-to-Program Communications (APPC) application in Microsoft Host Integration Server 2010. When the RECEIVE_AND_WAIT verb is successfully completed, the APPC application should receive a return code of 0x0. However, the RECEIVE_AND_WAIT verb may return a 0x9 return code. When this occurs, the incorrect return code may cause application failures.

Cause

This issue occurs because the APPC library (Wappc32.dll) in Host Integration Server 2010 loads the Unicode version of the APPC string library (Appcstr.dll) instead of the ANSI version.
