Windows Server 2012 Essentials Log Collector does not collect log files when the operating system is not installed on drive C

Symptoms

When the operating system is not installed on drive C of a computer, the Windows Server 2012 Essentials Log Collector does not collect log files.

Cause

This issue occurs because the Log Collector assumes that the operating system is installed on drive C.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, follow these steps:
  1. Open the LogCollector.exe.config and LogCollectorTask.exe.config files that are located in the Log Collector installation folder.

    Note By default, the Log Collector is installed in the following location:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Server Solutions Log Collector
     
  2. Change all instances of "C:" in the LogCollector.exe.config and LogCollectorTask.exe.config files to the letter of the drive on which the operating system is installed.
