Problems Occur When You Uninstall and Reinstall BizTalk Server without Rebooting

SYMPTOMS

When you uninstall BizTalk Server 2000 and the system prompts you to reboot (restart) your computer, if you reinstall the software without restarting the computer, the system continues to function normally until you restart it. After you restart your computer, the uninstall process completes and some files are deleted from the new installation.

Other problems may also occur if you do not restart your computer, such as the BizTalk Messaging service failing to start.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Uninstall BizTalk Server 2000.
  2. Restart the server, even if you are not prompted.
  3. Reinstall BizTalk Server 2000.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
