Outlook may hang when the Navigation Pane has hundreds of shortcuts

Symptoms

Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 or Microsoft Outlook 2010 stops responding (hangs) if you have 200 or more shortcuts in the Navigation Pane.

This is a limitation of the feature.

Workaround

If you experience hangs because of this limitation, reduce the number of shortcuts in the Navigation Pane to less than 200.

Outlook stores the Navigation Pane settings in a file on the disk. Shortcuts are included in the Navigation Pane settings.
