BUG #: 57737 (SQLBUG_70)
Expand all | Collapse all

When you upgrade a SQL Server 7.0 server to Service Pack 2, the process may report the following error message:
Msg20026, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_MSsetartprocs, Line 45
The publication % does not exist.
This problem occurs when you have the following replication configuration:

  • ServerA has a merge publication (P1), and pushes P1 to a remote server (ServerB).

  • ServerB republishes all the articles in P1, but uses a different publication name, P2.

  • The snapshot of P2 is ready.
With the preceding configuration, if you upgrade the republisher server (ServerB) to Service Pack 2, the replication upgrade process reports the error.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server 7.0. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 3 for Microsoft SQL Server 7.0. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
