WD2000: One Object Is Printed Twice, Replacing Another Object

If you have more than one object in a document, and you make a change to the second object, the second object appears twice when you print the document, replacing one of the other objects.

For example, if you insert three charts in a document, and you make a change to the second chart, the printout contains two instances of the second chart. One of the other two charts is not printed.

NOTE: The document is displayed correctly on the screen.

NOTE: To insert a chart, click Object on the Insert menu, and then click Microsoft Graph 2000 Chart.

This problem occurs when a wrapping style other than In line with text is used in conjunction with background printing.

This printing problem does not occur if background printing is turned off for the document, or if the wrapping style is changed to In line with text for each of the objects.

To work around this problem, use the following methods. In some cases, you may need to use both methods to correct this problem.

Method 1: Turn Off Background Printing

To turn off background printing, follow these steps:

1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. Click the Print tab, and click to clear the Background printing check box under Printing Options.
3. Click OK.

Method 2: Change the Wrapping Style to "In Line with Text"

To change the wrapping style of the chart object to In line with text, follow these steps:

1. Right-click the chart (or object), and then click Format Object on the shortcut menu.
2. On the Layout tab, click to select In line with text, and then click OK.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each object in your Word document.
