Error Message "Failed To Carry Out Command" When Attempting to Use CreateLink

SYMPTOMS

When a program uses the CreateLink method of the OLE Container control, you may receive the following error message from the Object Packager tool:

Failed to carry out command

After the error message is displayed, the document opens in the program that created it.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur when the program that created the document is open.
