Posting to an NNTP Moderated Newsgroup May Not Work

SYMPTOMS

When an attempt is made to post a news message to a Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP) moderated newsgroup that is hosted on a Windows 2000-based server, a "441 article rejected" error message may be generated.

CAUSE

The file that is used to store the post is opened with the wrong sharing mode.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
