SYMPTOMS

When you click a link in the Web Query dialog box in Microsoft Excel, the linked Web page opens in a new browser window instead of in the Web Query dialog box.

CAUSE

Some Web pages contain hyperlinks that are designed to open the linked Web page in a new browser window.

To work around this behavior, copy and paste the Web address from the new browser window to the Address box in the Web Query dialog box. Click Go to open the Web page in the Web Query dialog box.
