Introduction

This article describes an update that enables the Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 client to support Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012.

After you install this update, you can install the Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 client on a computer that is running Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012.

Note This update applies to the stand-alone Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 client.

This update is available from Windows Update.

Prerequisites

To apply this update, you must have Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 Update Rollup 1 installed.

Additional information

This update brings the antimalware client version to 4.1.0522.0. You can find the version information by clicking About on the Help menu of the Endpoint Protection client user interface.

File information

This update includes a new version of the Forefront Endpoint Protection Configuration Manager deployment package. For more information about how to deploy the client update, go to the "Installing FEP 2010 Update Rollup 1" TechNet article that is described in the "References" section.

The Forefront Endpoint Protection deployment package installs the FepInstall.exe file. FepInstall.exe contains several .msi files, which are listed in the following tables. The English version of these packages has the file attributes that are listed in the following tables:
