FIX: DTS Import Wizard Closes When You Browse for SQL Server Servers

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Data Transformation Services (DTS) Import Wizard (or Export Wizard) in Enterprise Manager to browse for another SQL Server server, the wizard may close if there are a large number of SQL Server servers registered in the domain.

CAUSE

An access violation occurs in the SQL Server ODBC driver when a call is made to retrieve a list of servers in the domain.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server 7.0. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 3 for Microsoft SQL Server 7.0. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
