WD2000: IPF When You Use an Input Method Editor to Type Characters

SYMPTOMS

When you use an Input Method Editor (IME) to type characters in a document and then press the SPACEBAR to convert the Hiragana characters to Kanji or Katakana, you receive an error message similar to the following:
Winword caused an Invalid Page Fault in module MSO9.dll.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, disable the IME TrueInline option. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Edit tab, clear the IME TrueInline check box under IME options.
  3. Click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP-3).
