INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to use Microsoft Outlook Web App to remotely wipe a mobile device in Office 365.

To remotely wipe a mobile device in Outlook Web App, the mobile device must be connected to Microsoft Exchange Online by using Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. If you lose the mobile device, you can use the remote wiping feature to prevent someone from obtaining your personal information from the device.

PROCEDURE

To remotely wipe a device by using Outlook Web App, follow these steps.

In Office 365

  1. Sign in to the Office 365 portal (http://portal.microsoftonline.com).
  2. Click Outlook, and then sign in to Outlook Web App.
  3. Click Settings (

  4. In the left navigation pane, click Phone.
  5. Select the device that you want to wipe.
  6. Click Wipe Device (

    ), and then click Yes when you're prompted.
  7. When the wipe operation is completed, you should remove the device completely. To do this, click Delete, and then click Yes when you're prompted.

In Office 365 pre-upgrade

  1. Sign in to the Office 365 pre-upgrade portal (http://portal.microsoftonline.com).
  2. Click Outlook, and then sign in to Outlook Web App.
  3. Click Options, and then click See All Options.
  4. In the navigation pane, click Phone, and then click Mobile Phones.
  5. Select the ID of the mobile telephone that you want to wipe, and then remove that ID from the list.
  6. Click Wipe Device, and then click Yes when you're prompted.
  7. When the wipe operation is completed, you should remove the device completely. To do this, click Delete, and then click Yes when you're prompted.
Note If you're an Exchange Online admin, you can complete these steps for a user by using the Exchange Control Panel. To do this, locate the options under Select what to manage, click Another User, and then click the user to manage.
