The Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) process (Winmgmt.exe) may stop responding (hang) when queries are run against the Win32_QuickFixEngineering class. When this situation occurs, memory usage and CPU usage for the Winmgmt.exe process rise dramatically. You can return WMI to a typical state by stopping and restarting the process. To stop and restart WMI, type the following lines at a command prompt: net stop winmgmt net start winmgmt RESOLUTIONMicrosoft Windows 2000To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000.
