Assume that you try to transfer certain file types by using a Microsoft Lync 2010 client that does not have the IM and Presence file transfer filter feature enabled. However, the transfer fails, and you receive the following error message:
Your message or invitation was not delivered, possibly because it contains a hyperlink or other content that your system administrator has blocked
This issue occurs because Microsoft Lync Server 2010 blocks the transfer of the following file types for security reasons. This behavior is by design.
.ade .adp .app .asp .bas .bat .cer .chm .cmd .com .cpl .crt .csh .exe .fxp .grp .hlp .hta .inf .ins .isp .its .js .jse .ksh .lnk .mad .maf .mag .mam .maq .mar
.mas .mat .mau .mav .maw .mda.mdb .mde .mdt .mdw .mdz .msc .msi .msp .mst .ocx .ops .pcd .php .pif .pl .pnp .prf .prg .pst .reg.scf .scr .sct .shb
.shs .tmp .url .vb .vbe .vbs .vsd .vsmacros .vss .vst .vsw .ws .wsc .wsf .wsh
To resolve this issue, use Lync Server 2010 to change which file types are blocked by the file transfer filter.
For more information about how to change which files are blocked by the file transfer filter, go to the following Microsoft websites:
How to change the default file transfer filterNote The file types that are listed in the "Cause" section are blocked by default in both on-premises Lync Server 2010 and in Lync Online. However, you can only customize the allowed or blocked file types filter list for file transfers by using on-premises Lync Server 2010.
