Article ID: 280013 - Last Review: January 25, 2006 - Revision: 2.1 Cannot Connect to IIS After Using the Configure Internet Information Services WizardThis article was previously published under Q280013 SYMPTOMS
After you run the Configure Internet Information Services Wizard from the To Do list, you may no longer be able to access your intranet or Internet Web site. You may receive one of the following error messages:
Microsoft Internet Explorer Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site http://servername A connection to the server cannot be established 10061 - Connection Refused Internet Security and Acceleration Server CAUSE
This problem occurs because the Configure Internet Information Services Wizard does not require the IP address that you enter to match the IP address on the server's internal network card. When you use Internet Information Services (IIS) on the same server with Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000, you need to configure IIS to listen only on the server's internal network card address. You can then configure ISA Server to accept requests on the server's external interface on TCP port 80, which is the standard port for Web (HTTP) traffic, and then redirect them to the server's internal IP address by using a Web Publishing rule. Running the Internet Connection Wizard (ICW) should configure IIS and ISA in this manner.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, correct the IP address on which IIS listens:
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
