Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:

You apply Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 1 (SP1) to a Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Master Data Services (MDS) installation.

You use an MDS entity-based staging process to update attribute values.

One of the domain-based attributes that you try to update has change tracking enabled.
In this scenario, the staging process fails and you receive the following error message:
Msg 50000, Level 16, State 1, Procedure udp_name_Leaf, Line 2182
SYSERR245|Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value ' ' to data type int.
Note The placeholder name is the name of the staging table that is specified when you create the entity.
