PROBLEM

When you try to subscribe to a Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feed from a Microsoft SharePoint Online site and track the feed in the Feeds section of Internet Explorer, you may experience one of the following symptoms: 
  • You're prompted to open the feed by using Microsoft Outlook.
  • You receive the following error message in Internet Explorer:
    The webpage cannot be displayed.

    Most likely cause:
    Some content or files on this webpage require a program that you don’t have installed.
Note In this scenario, the link that you click to subscribe to the feed begins with feeds:// and not https://. Additionally, the symptoms that are mentioned in this article may vary from those that you experience if you have an RSS reader installed on your system. 

SOLUTION

To resolve this issue, take one of the following actions: 
  • If you're prompted to open the RSS feed in Outlook, track the feed by using Outlook.
  • In Internet Explorer, create a favorite to the feed page where the subscribe link exists.
