SYMPTOMS

When you type the following words in conjunction with each other and you check the grammar in your document, Microsoft Word may incorrectly suggest incorrect capitalization:

China
Chinese
republic
mainland

For example, Microsoft Word may incorrectly suggest that "mainland" or "republic" be capitalized in the following example text:

The relationship between mainland China and the republic of Korea has strengthened in recent years.
