You cannot open or edit an embedded object in a Rich Text Format message in Outlook

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Outlook, you receive an e-mail message that includes an embedded object. For example, the message includes a Microsoft Paintbrush picture. When this occurs, you cannot open or edit the embedded object.

This problem occurs when the message is in Rich Text Format.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, click Forward, and then double-click the object in the original message. Make the changes that you want. Then, click outside the object to exit Edit mode and to return to the message.
