Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:

You have a Windows Embedded Compact 7-based image on a device.

The image includes the following components:

Web Server (HTTPD) (SYSGEN_HTTPD)

SOAP Toolkit Server (SYSGEN_SOAPTK_SERVER)

The device hosts a SOAP web service that is used to transfer data to a client.

A SOAP client requests a large amount of data from the web service. For example, the size of the data is more than 1 megabyte (MB).
In this scenario, you may receive the following error message:
Application servicesd.exe encountered a serious problem and must shut down.
Cause
This issue occurs because of a linked list that is dynamically created by the SOAP server and that manages the data transfer is released by using a recursive algorithm. During the execution of the recursive algorithm, a "User Stack Overflow" exception may occur after a large amount of data is transferred to the client.

Restart requirement
After you apply this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To do this, use one of the following methods:

On the Build menu, click Clean Solution, and then click Build Solution.

On the Build menu, click Rebuild Solution.
You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this software update.
