XADM: Cannot Install Exchange 2000 on a Cluster Without a Physical Disk Resource

SYMPTOMS

After you install Exchange 2000 Enterprise Server on a Microsoft Windows 2000 cluster server, you cannot create the system attendant resource.

CAUSE

The Exchange 2000 resource .dll file requires a resource of Physical Disk to be present. In some cluster configurations (such as those from IBM or Compaq), the resources have different names.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Enterprise Server. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 1.
