SYMPTOMS

BizTalk Server may append random characters to a flat file output when no characters are needed or required.

CAUSE

The BizTalk Server Flat File Serializer component may insert random characters into its output when the flat file input data contains ten or more consecutive empty fields.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

This behavior in the BizTalk Server Flat File Serializer component only occurs when the input data contains ten or more consecutive empty fields. If possible, use a default value in your document specification when ten or more empty fields are expected.

STATUS

This problem was first corrected in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000 Service Pack 1.
