"Unspecified Error" Message When Playing an Indeo Video Format (IVF) File

When you attempt to play an Indeo Video Format (IVF) file in Windows Media Player, the file may not be played and you may receive the following error message:

This behavior can occur if you try to play the IVF file by using a Uniform Resource Locator (URL).

To work around this behavior, copy the file to your hard disk before you play it. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Right-click the link to the IVF file, and then click Save Target As.
2. Specify the location where you want to save the file.
3. Double-click the file on your hard disk to play it.
