When you attempt to install Microsoft Windows XP on a computer that is based on the Intel i815 chip set and has a universal serial bus (USB) keyboard and mouse attached, you may experience the following behavior:
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if Legacy USB support is enabled in your computer's BIOS. This option does not need to be used on Windows XP-based computers.
RESOLUTION
The following resolution is specific to computers that have a USB mouse and keyboard attached and a motherboard with an i815 chip set. However, note that there are other potential reasons for a computer to exhibit the same symptoms.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
