Live Meeting 2007 client microphone remains muted in an audio conference

Summary

This issue will occur under the following circumstances:

  • The conference is homed in an Office Communications Server (OCS) 2007 R2 environment
  • The conference is hosted in an Lync Server 2013 coexistence with OCS 2007 R2
  • The LM 2007 client's user is a conference attendee that is homed in a Lync 2013 Server pool
  • The conference organizer is homed in an OCS 2007 R2 pool
  • The Live Meeting (LM) 2007 client will not allow the user to unmute their microphone

To resolve the issue, install the following update:

Under the circumstances listed in the Summary section of this article, timing issues with the functionality of the LM 2007 client may occur that will not allow it to re-establish its media connectivity parameters which allow it to both send and receive streaming audio.

The following Workarounds may be used to correct the issue:

Workaround 1

With the LM 2007 console open:

  1. Click on the Microphone button on the LM 2007 client's toolbar
  2. Click on the Voice & Video tab on the LM 2007 client's toolbar to unmute the microphone
Workaround 2

With the LM 2007 console open:

  1. Click on the Voice & Video tab on the LM 2007 client's toolbar
  2. From the Options menu choose the Set Up Audio and Video... menu option
  3. Use the Set Up Audio and Video wizard to test the LM 2007 client's connected audio hardware devices
  4. Click on the Finish button to close the Set Up Audio and Video wizard
  5. Now try to unmute the microphone
