Web Folder Check Box Has No Function If Web Folder Components Are Not Installed

SYMPTOMS

If you upgrade a computer that is running Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium Edition (Me), or Windows NT 4.0 to Internet Explorer 6 and you open a new Web page by clicking Open on the File menu, there is an Open as a Web Folder check box in the Open dialog box even if you do not have the Web folder components installed on the computer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 does not install the Web folder components even though the option to open as Web folder is available.

Note that this option has no effect on the browser.
