While you are monitoring an Exchange 2000 Server, you may see messages that remain in the SMTP queue that is bound for local delivery. In addition, the information store process consumes 100 percent CPU usage. CAUSE
The information store process does not detect cross membership in Security Groups when it is checking security credentials. For example:

WORKAROUND
You can work around this problem by removing cross membership in security groups.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 1.
