SYMPTOMS

When you try to gain access to Send/Receive groups, Outlook 2002 cannot open the Send/Receive group settings file. No error message appears.

One of the following behaviors may occur:
You cannot open the file.
You can open the file, but the collection data stream is corrupted and you cannot gain access to a list of the Send/Receive groups.
You can gain access to the Send/Receive group streams, but you cannot open a specific group to view, run, or edit it.
You can use a Send/Receive group, but Outlook 2002 then stops responding or shuts down.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because a file is damaged or missing.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, either recreate the Send/Receive groups and settings by renaming the .srs file, or delete the specific group and then recreate it. Note that this process destroys any previously saved Send/Receive group streams.

To recreate all the Send/Receive groups:
1.Quit Outlook 2002.
2.Start Windows Explorer, and locate the .srs file that matches the name of the Send/Receive group that is corrupted.
3.Rename the .srs file by adding .old to the end of the name.
4.Restart Outlook 2002.

This action deletes all previous Send/Receive groups and creates a new All Accounts group when you restart Outlook.
To delete a specific Send/Receive group:
1.In Outlook 2002, on the Tools menu, point to Send/Receive Settings, and then click Define Send/Receive Groups.
2.Click the group name, click Remove, and then click Close.
3.Click New, type a group name, and then click OK.
4.Click OK, and then click Close.
5.Restart Outlook 2002.
