This article was previously published under Q284836 SYMPTOMS If you create stand-alone Organization Chart 2.0 (*.opx)
files in earlier versions of Microsoft Office, you cannot insert these
Organization Chart files into Microsoft PowerPoint 2002. In earlier versions of Microsoft Office, you can insert an organization chart into PowerPoint, and save an organization chart as a stand-alone OPX file. However in Microsoft Office XP, you cannot open any OPX files created by Microsoft Organization Chart 2.0, or insert them as objects. However, if you open a presentation that was created in an earlier version of PowerPoint, and that presentation contains embedded Organization Chart objects, these objects remain in the presentation. You can update them to the new version of Organization Chart, by double-clicking them for editing. CAUSE Microsoft Office XP includes a new version of Organization
Chart, which is built into PowerPoint 2002, and not a separate applet like
Organization Chart 2.0. The new version of Organization Chart can convert embedded charts that are contained within documents or presentations, but it cannot open or import stand-alone .opx files that are created in earlier versions of Organization Chart. WORKAROUND If you have access to Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 or
Microsoft PowerPoint 97, you can use the following method to embed and update
organization charts:
