This article describes the two ways that you can insert new blank pages into your Microsoft Office Visio drawing.

Each Visio drawing contains at least one foreground page and may also contain one or more background pages. A background is a page that appears behind a foreground page.
NOTE: Create a background page when you want the same shape to appear on more than one drawing page. For example, you can place a common graphical element, such as a company logo or a border, on a background. The element will appear on each page to which you assign the background. You can assign only one background to each foreground, but each background can also have a background, so you can use backgrounds to create a layered effect.
Method 1: Use the Page Tab in the Drawing
Page tabs are located in the lower left of a drawing window, and each tab displays the name of a page. Click a page tab to make the corresponding page active. To scroll through the page tabs, use the tab scrolling buttons to the left of the tabs.
To insert a page, follow these steps:

Open a drawing in Visio.

In the lower left of the drawing window, right-click the page tab, and click Insert Page on the shortcut menu.

The Page Properties tab of the Page Setup dialog box appears and prompts you to name the page.

Click OK.
Method 2: Use the Insert Menu

Open a drawing in Visio.

In Visio 2007, in Visio 2002 or in Visio 2003, click New Page on the Insert menu. In Visio 2000, click Page on the Insert menu.

The Page Properties tab of the Page Setup dialog box appears and prompts you to name the page.

Click OK.
