Description of the Microsoft Windows Registry
SYMPTOMS When you try to use a query that was created in MS Query as
a data source for a Word mail merge document, you receive the following error
message: Cannot Group on Fields Selected with '*'
When you click Details in the error message dialog box, you receive the following information: ODBC error: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]Cannot group on fields selected with ''*' Sql State: S1000 Return Code: SQL_ERROR CAUSE This problem occurs when the SQL string query contains a
GROUP_BY statement, or some other SQL statement, that is incompatible with
SELECT *. Typically, this occurs when the query contains a calculation; for
example, an average over a group of records. RESOLUTION To resolve this problem, obtain the latest
service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the
