Chart animation fade effects are not displayed as expected when you view a PowerPoint presentation in Internet Explorer

SYMPTOMS

You create a slide that contains a chart with group chart animation fade effects in a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation. When you view this presentation as a Web page in Microsoft Internet Explorer, the animations are not displayed as expected.

Instead, the whole chart fades in as one object instead of the element sequence that you selected.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Internet Explorer cannot use the group chart animation effects. The fade animation effect can only render the whole chart as one object in Internet Explorer.

To add a group chart animation to an inserted chart, follow these steps:
  1. Select the slide with the chart.
  2. Right-click the chart.
  3. On the object shortcut menu, click Custom Animation.
  4. In the Custom Animation task pane, point to Entrance on the Add Effect menu, and then click Fade.
  5. Click the arrow next to the chart number in the large box under Modify: Fade, and then click Effect Options.
  6. In the Fade dialog box, click the Chart Animation tab.
  7. In the Group chart box, click the animation effect that you want, and then click OK.
