Can't build a Visual Studio 2012 desktop-based C++ application by using Visual Studio 2013 Preview

Symptoms

When you build a Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 desktop-based C++ application by using Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 Preview, you may receive compiler "C1083" errors because the system header files are not found.

Note This issue only occurs if you do not upgrade your desktop-based C++ application to Visual Studio 2013 Preview and if you do not install Visual Studio 2012 side by side on the same computer with Visual Studio 2013 Preview.

Cause

This issue occurs because Visual Studio 2013 is not fully supported to build Visual Studio 2012 desktop-based C++ applications.

Workaround

To work around this issue, install Visual Studio 2012 on the computer side by side with Visual Studio 2013 Preview.
