How to Recover Notepad After McAfee Program Cleans Out W32/QAZ.worm Virus

This article explains the details of a virus named W32/QAZ.worm and how to recover Notepad after you run the McAfee AntiVirus program.

To resolve the issues raised by this virus, run the McAfee AntiVirus program, and then do the following to extract Notepad:

1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Information.
2. On the Tools menu, click System File Checker.
3. Click Extract One File From Installation Disk, type Notepad.exe in the box, and then click Start.
4. In the Restore from box, type D:\Win98, using the correct drive letter for your computer's CD-ROM drive.
5. In the Save file in box, type C:\Windows, and then click OK.
6. Restart the computer, and then start Notepad.
