Error Messages Indicate Web Proxy Service Is Stopped Because of Logging Failure

SYMPTOMS

When clients attempt to browse the Internet through the Proxy Server, Event Viewer may log the following errors on the Proxy Server:

Event ID: 26
Application popup: System process-lost delayed write data: the system was attempting to transfer file data from buffers to (filename path). The write operation failed and only some of the data may have been written to the file.

The Microsoft Web Proxy service was stopped because of logging failure

Failed to write to Web Proxy log file in directory d:\program files\msp\logs

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when the permissions on the \Inetpub\WWWRoot folder are not configured correctly.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, grant the Everyone group Full Control permission on the \Inetpub\WWWRoot folder, and then restart the Web Proxy Service.
