Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 11.0 installed on a Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1)-based or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1-based computer.
  • You create a Data Source Name (DSN) by using Group Policy Preferences on the computer. During the creation process, you select the SQL Server Native Client 11.0 driver to create the new data source.
  • The DSN is deployed correctly on Windows 7-based or Windows Server 2008 R2-based client computers that have SQL Server Native Client 11.0 installed.
  • You change or delete the DSN by using Group Policy Preferences on the computer.
In this scenario, the DSN is not changed or deleted on the client computers.

Cause

This issue occurs because the data that is passed to the SQL Server Native Client 11.0 driver to change or delete the DSN on the client computers is incorrect.
