SYMPTOMS

You may experience one of the following symptoms when you try to insert a Slide Show Photo Gallery:
  • When you try to insert a slide show from the Photo Gallery section of the Insert Web Components dialog box, the Finish button is unavailable (dimmed). (On the Insert menu, point to Web Component. In the Insert Web Component dialog box, click Photo Gallery under Component type. In the Choose a Photo Gallery Option section, click the Slideshow Layout selection.)
  • If you point to Picture on the Insert menu and then click New Photo Gallery, the Slide Show layout does not appear on the Layout tab.
  • If you insert a Photo Gallery on a page and then click to view the Photo Gallery properties, Slide Show is not available on the Layout tab.

CAUSE

Slide Show is the only Photo Gallery that requires JavaScript. If JavaScript is turned off in the Compatibility settings, Slide Show is not available as an option.

RESOLUTION

To create a slide show, you must turn on JavaScript. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, point to Page Options, and then click the Compatibility tab.
  2. Under Available Technologies, click to select the JavaScript check box.
