SYMPTOMS

When you delete a page from a Microsoft FrontPage web on your local computer, and you then publish the web to a World Wide Web or intranet server, the existing page on the Web or intranet server is not deleted as expected.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if, in the Publish Web dialog box, under Options on the Publish tab, you select All pages, overwriting pages already on destination. This selection updates changes made to existing pages, but FrontPage does not delete pages from the server that you deleted from your local web.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, in the Publish Web dialog box, click Options, and then, on the Publish tab, select the Changed pages only option. When you click Publish, FrontPage then displays a message similar to the following to prompt you to delete the pages and files that are present on the server but not in your current web:
The file 'page_two.htm' exists on the destination server but does not exist in the current Web. Would you like FrontPage to remove it from 'servername/targetfolder?'
Click Yes to delete the specified file or Yes to All to delete all of the files that you deleted from the current web.

MORE INFORMATION

For more information about publishing webs, click Microsoft FrontPage Help on the Help menu, type publish a web in the Office Assistant or the Answer Wizard, and then click Search to view the topics returned.
