SYMPTOMS

When you press the F9 key to synchronize your offline folders, you may receive the following error message:

The operation failed due to a registry or installation problem. Restart Outlook and try again. If the problem persists, please reinstall.

You are able to send and receive messages as normal.

CAUSE

This problem can occur because you clicked Cancel when you received the prompt to enter your network password for Microsoft Networking after you started Microsoft Windows.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, quit all programs, and then restart Windows. Do not click Cancel when you receive the prompt to enter your network password for Microsoft Networking.
