Symptoms

When you try to set up a remote device for app package validation by using the Windows App Certification Kit Remote Configuration tool (PrepWinACK.exe), Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 Release Candidate (RC) cannot connect to the remote device.

Cause

This problem occurs because Visual Studio 2013 RC installs a version of PrepWinACK.exe that installs an older version of Visual Studio Remote Tools that is not compatible with Visual Studio 2013 RC. This prevents Visual Studio 2013 RC from connecting to the remote device.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, make sure that Remote Tools for Visual Studio 2013 RC is installed and running on the remote computer. To obtain Remote Tools, go to the following Microsoft Downlown Center website:
Remote Tools for Visual Studio 2013 RC
