Error when you install Exchange Server 2013 CU1 or CU2: Error occurred while configuring Search Foundation

Symptoms

When you install Exchange Server 2013 Cumulative Update 1 (KB2816900) or Cumulative Update 2 (KB2859928) on Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows Server 2012, the installation of the Mailbox server role isn't successful, and you receive the following error message:

Cause

This issue occurs because of a trailing space in the PSModulePath variable in the environment variables.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, remove trailing spaces from the PSModulePath variable. If there are more PSModulePath variables, make sure that they do not contain any trailing spaces. After you remove the trailing space, restart the server.
