When you use Publisher 2002 to open a publication that was created in Publisher 2000, the publication takes much longer to open than it does using Publisher 2000.

When Publisher 2002 opens a file from an earlier version, it converts the file to the 2002 publication format. The original file information and the converted information are stored in memory until the file is saved as a Publisher 2002 file.

A large publication takes considerably longer to be converted. After the publication is opened and saved in Publisher 2002, the publication should not take as long to open again.
