FIX: MS DTC Transaction Requests Fail with XACT_E_CONNECTION_DOWN

SYMPTOMS

During stress, the following error may be logged in the event log for Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MS DTC):

Description:
String message: CSO::CreateConnection
After this event, all MS DTC transaction requests fail with the error XACT_E_CONNECTION_DOWN, which is an HRESULT of 0x8004d01c.

CAUSE

This problem is caused by a bug in the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator.

RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
