FIX: Current Row's Time if Empty Is Replaced by Previous Row's Time in Bulk Copy

SYMPTOMS

When bulk insert imports a datetime value from a character or Unicode file in which the time value is not provided, the time value from the previous datetime column imported is used. The time, however, should read "0" because the time portion of the row's datetime column does not exist.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for SQL Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000. This problem was first corrected in SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1.
