OL2002: Rules Based on the "Through the Specified Account" Option Do Not Work After Upgrade

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade to Outlook 2002 from Outlook 2000 Internet Mail Only (IMO) with multiple Post Office Protocol (POP) accounts, rules that are based on the through the specified account option may not work.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use the Outlook 2002 Rules Wizard to re-create the rules:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Rules Wizard.
  2. Click New.
  3. Click Start from a blank rule.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Under Which condition do you want, click to select the through the specified account check box, and then click the underlined value to enter the specified POP account.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Under What do you want to do with the message, click Move it to the specified folder, and then click the underlined value to enter the specified folder.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Click Finish.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
