Symptoms

Internet Explorer 9 and Internet Explorer 10 may leak memory when you use the DOMParser.parseFromString method to parse Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) content that contains an SVGUseElement object.

Cause

This problem occurs when you insert the resulting SVG markup into the Document Object Model (DOM) and then the SVG markup is later removed. The now orphaned SVG markup is not released because the SVGUseElement object creates additional references to the SVG markup tree that are not released.

Note This issue may not be limited to situations in which the DOMParser.parseFromString method is used and may occur if SVG markup that contains an SVGUseElement object is created in other ways and then dynamically removed from the page.
