"Compile error in hidden module: RegistrationDB" error message when you start or quit Excel 2002

SYMPTOMS

When you start or quit Microsoft Excel, you receive an error message similar to the following:
Compile error in hidden module: RegistrationDB

CAUSE

This problem may occur when the following conditions are true:
  • A file named the Pdfwrite.xla is in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10Xlstart folder on your hard disk.

    -and-

  • You have upgraded to Microsoft Excel 2002 from Microsoft Excel 97 or Microsoft Excel 2000.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, remove the Pdfwrite.xla file from the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Xlstart folder on your hard disk.
